    每種生物都有一個共同的目標:生存。它的所有體細胞都在協(xié)同工作,以保持它活著。它們是通過微調的溝通手段而達成目的的。聯合柏林和劍橋大學,盧森堡大學的盧森堡系統(tǒng)生物醫(yī)學中心(LCSB)的科學家*揭示細胞信號從周圍環(huán)境轉換為內部信號的規(guī)律。就像一支管弦樂隊的一個孤立的音符,細胞的一個孤立信號處于次要性的地位。
    “重要的是,該信號從細胞膜傳遞到細胞的強度和頻率的相對變化,”這項研究的*、LCSB的Alexander Skupin博士說,這項研究發(fā)表于《science Signaling》雜志上。
    通過使空氣振動,一支管弦樂隊的樂器從而產生信號——音符。在細胞內,鈣離子負責攜帶信號。當來自于環(huán)境的一片信息——比如一個生物信使——與細胞的外膜相遇,細胞內的鈣離子被釋放。在那里,鈣離子控制各種適應過程。“乍一看,并沒有簡單的離子沖動模式,” Skupin解釋;“但它們在細胞內仍然以一種有意義的反應達到高潮,就像一個特定基因的激活。”
    為了確定這一現象的潛在規(guī)律,研究人員結合成像技術和數學方法,研究人類腎細胞和大鼠肝細胞。他們發(fā)現,鈣沖動的強度和頻率經歷了的變化——都發(fā)生在細胞-內部和細胞-細胞之間。因此,它們所傳達的信息不能被孤立的信號單獨分析進行解釋。“這就像在一個樂團,在那里自己學習孤立的音符不容許有任何旋律的結果,”Skupin延續(xù)了音樂的比喻。 “你必須聽聽所有儀器的頻率和音量如何變化,以及產生旋律。然后你獲得了音樂作品的印象。”
    現在,研究人員*成功地通過傾聽細胞的交流而獲得這樣一整個印象。他們發(fā)現,鈣沖動的過多變化導致彼此相對于一個特定的關系中:外部的刺激不會導致鈣沖動的增長,恰恰相反的是它們發(fā)生時的頻率有了變化——音樂廳中,交響曲中的儀器的音符會上升和下降。“這種模式是導致細胞反應的實際信號,” Skupin說。“我們的分析已經對此提供了解釋。”
